About Us
The Coventry Sailfish home is at the Harvest Lake pool in the Coventry neighborhood (206 Honeysuckle Ln, Yorktown, VA). The Harvest lake pool is an impressive eight swim lane outdoor facility, and is one of the few eight lane outdoor pools in the locality.
All Coventry residents are eligible to join the Sailfish Swim Team. In addition, anyone that is or becomes an affiliate member of the Coventry Association is also eligible to join the swim team.
Practices start after memorial day weekend, and continue through towards the end of July / beginning of August. Practices are held daily Monday-Friday at the Harvest lake pool.
Children of all ages up to 18 can join. Children 6 and under who have not previously been on the Sailfish team will be registered into the minnow team. Practices for minnows will go through late June. Children that are are able to swim across the pool by the end of June are able (and encouraged) to move up to the full team and compete for the rest of the season.
The Coventry swim team competes in the Greater Peninsula Swimming Association (GPSA), which includes 19 area summer league teams. There are 6 dual meets held with other GPSA teams starting in late June. The season culminates with a Summer Awards GPSA league meet in July (for those individuals that don't qualify for the championship meet); and a Championship league meet in early August for those that do qualify.
The Sailfish swim team has a proud history of providing excellent coaching and strong competition. More importantly, the Sailfish have provided an opportunity for all over the years to meet new friends and become a part of a strong team and community.
