What Next?

So, summer swim is over, and your swimmer wants more!  Here are some options within our area.  Registration is open and some have lessons starting now.


Riverside.  


City of Newport News Swim Lessons.  Held at Midtown Community center, instruction based on red cross instructional training.  Information on the aquatics center: https://www.nngov.com/Facilities/Facility/Details/Aquatic-Center-6


YMCA Swim Lessons.  The YMCA offers swimming lessons throughout the peninsula, including the Victory YMCA right down the road.  Information on instructions: https://www.peninsulaymca.org/our-programs/swim/


USA Swim Clubs.  There four USA Swim Clubs on the peninsula that offer year round swimming options.  Most / all of these clubs have a comprehensive offering of programs that suit the ability of most / all swimmers.  They are the following:

  • 757Swim.  Practice locations at the Warhill Sports Complex.  Age groups as young as 5 years old are welcome to try out.  Swimmer tryouts start August 3rd.   https://www.teamunify.com/Home.jsp?team=va757
  • Coast Guard Blue Dolphins (CGBD).  Practice locations on lower peninsula (Midtown Aquatic; Fort Eustis; Yorktown Coast Guard Base) and Williamsburg (College of William & Mary; James County Rec Center); and various outdoor pools during the summer.  Evaluations are ongoing, contact CGBD to schedule.  https://www.teamunify.com/team/vacgbd/page/home
  • HVA Current.  Practices held at the Hampton Aquaplex, with Flex and Year-Round Options available.   https://www.hvacurrent.org/
